Start off chili season the right way with Gulf Coast Smoke seasonings!
Here's what you'll need:
The Process
Start by finely dicing 1 cup of white onions. Mince 1 tablespoon of garlic. Finely dice 1 jalapeño. I kept half of the seeds to keep it on the milder side, but you can remove all the seeds for less heat and keep the seeds for more.
In a pot on medium-high heat, start browning 1 pound of ground beef. I used 80/20 for this recipe. Once the meat is about half way done, add the onions, garlic and jalapeños and finish cooking until the beef is done. Then, add all the seasonings: 1 tbsp Southern HOTspitality or Hospitality, 1 tbsp Southern Bell, 2 tsp chili powder, and 1 tsp ground cumin. Stir to combine.
Next, add 1 1/2 tbsp tomato paste, (1) 8-ounce can tomato sauce, (1) 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes, (1) 15.5-ounce can red kidney beans, and 1 1/2 cups beef broth. Stir to combine all the ingredients. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer for about 15 minutes until the liquids reduce slightly and the tomatoes have cooked down.
Serve with your choice of toppings: sour cream, cheddar cheese, green onions, white onions, or my personal favorite, corn chips! Then, all that's left to do is enjoy!
