Homemade hot chocolate forever replaces the need for those paper packets!
Here's what you'll need:
The Process
In a pot on low heat, whisk together the milk, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and sugar. Gently melt the chocolate on low while continuously stirring. Serve with marshmallows, whipped cream, or by itself!
Tips
1. You can use different types of milk for this. Try lactose-free milk, almond milk, or any variety you like for more health conscious options.
2. Try blending different types of chocolate. One of my favorite ways to make hot chocolate is to use 75% semi-sweet chips and 25% white chocolate chips. I use unsweetened cocoa powder so I can control the sweetness, but if you are using sweetened cocoa powder, keep in mind the amount of sugar you are adding.
3. Use a hand held or stand up blender to easily blend the hot mixture for the smoothest hot chocolate.
4. To figure out how much to make, measure 1 cup of milk per person, and add the correct proportions of chocolate, cocoa, and sugar.
