Mashed potatoes are the perfect side for your Thanksgiving meal or all year round!
Here’s what you’ll need:
The Process
Start by rinsing and peeling 4 pounds of gold potatoes. Cut the potatoes in fourths.
In a pot of boiling water, carefully add the potatoes. Let them boil for 20-23 minutes or until fork tender. Cook times may vary based on the size of the potatoes. Drain the potatoes and set aside. In a small saucepan on low heat, melt 1 stick of butter with 1 cup of heavy cream until the cream is hot.
In a large bowl, mash the potatoes until smooth. Next, add the hot butter and cream. Add half of the liquid first and stir. If you need more, keep adding until you have the desired consistency. For this recipe, we used all of the liquid.
Next, add 1.5-2 tablespoons of Southern Bell BBQ Seasoning. Like the liquid mixture, you want to add 1.5 tablespoons of the seasoning first, and increase as needed to reach your desired level of saltiness.
*Tip for holding: Place the mashed potatoes in a casserole dish topped with a couple pads of butter. Cover with a lid or foil. Place in the oven to keep warm.
